PRERANA Odisha State Scholarship Portal has been created by the ST & SC Development and Minority & Other Backward Classes Welfare Department, Government of Odisha. Its main purpose is to provide financial assistance in the form of post-matric scholarships to economically weaker sections of the state. The primary intention behind PRERANA is to provide an ease of scholarship application process and timely payment of scholarship amount directly into the bank accounts of beneficiaries

PRERANA Scholarship – What are the key functions of this online scholarship portal?

The PRERNA Odisha State Scholarship Portal helps students in the following ways:

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION, PROCESSING, TRACKING, MONITORING & RENEWALS

  1. The students are able to submit their applications online from anywhere at any time.
  2. The students are able to track the status of their application.
  3. The portal facilitates the students in applying afresh with the same credentials in a new course or programme of a new college.
  4. Regular SMSes and e-mail alerts are sent to the students and educational institutes at various stages of scholarship processing through this portal. 
  5. The portal allows ONLY the institutes to renew the applications by importing the applications from the previous year. 
  6. Institutes are also benefitted by the auto and bulk processing of scholarship applications. 
  7. The portal provides a provision for bar-coding which helps the officials detect and filter out fake applications.

PRERANA is an online scholarship portal wherein post-matric scholarship schemes for domiciled students of Odisha state are enlisted. There are 4 kinds of scholarship schemes that the PRERANA portal hosts. These are:

Other Eligibility Criteria for PRERANA Scholarships

 

Two common eligibility requirements to apply for PRERANA Scholarships are that:

  • The candidates should belong to the state of Odisha
  • The candidates must be pursuing studies at post-matric level in any of the course mentioned under Group I, II, III & IV.

 

But what these 4 groups all about? Each of these groups basically include different programmes and courses that the candidates must be pursuing at post matriculation level. Let’s look into the details of these 4 groups –

GROUP I Students pursuing the following courses are considered part of this group – 

  • Graduate/Postgraduate level courses in engineering, medical, agriculture and veterinary. 
  • Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) course, PG diploma course in management & medicine
  • Courses related to Accountancy M.Phil., Ph.D. and postdoctoral programme (D. Lit, D.Sc. etc), LLM
GROUP II Students pursuing the following courses are considered part of this group – 

  • Graduate/Postgraduate courses leading to degree, diploma certification areas like pharmacy, nursing, paramedical, LLB, mass communication, hotel management, interior decoration, etc. 
  • PG courses like MA, M.Sc., M.Com., M.Ed., M Pharma, etc.
GROUP III Students pursuing +3 courses are considered part of this group
GROUP IV Students pursuing the following courses are considered part of this group – 

  • +2
  • ITI
  • 3-year diploma 
  • 2 years vocational courses

  • The applicant must have secured at least 50% marks in the previous exam.
  • The applicant must be continuing his/her post-matriculation studies in any of the courses mentioned under Group I, II, III & IV.
  • The applicant must be studying in a government or private institution.
Post Matric Scholarship – EBC
  • The candidate must be pursuing any of the courses mentioned under Group I, II, III & IV.
  • This scholarship scheme is only applicable for the EBC of General category.

PRERANA Scholarship – Application Process 

Candidates who wish to avail the benefits of PRERANA scholarships have to first ensure that they comply with the eligibility criteria. Thereafter, they have to visit the official website of PRERANA to fill in and submit the scholarship application within the pre-determined deadline of the current year. PRERANA, being an e-scholarship portal, is fairly easy to navigate for the candidates. The application process, therefore, is a very simple process.

PRERANA Scholarship – Documents Required for Application

Candidates have to upload the scanned copies of the below-mentioned documents during the online application process – 

  • Caste Certificate
  • Matriculation Certificate
  • Income Certificate
  • Aadhar Card/Enrolment slip
  • Copy of 1st page of the applicant’s bank account passbook containing details such as account number, IFSC code of the branch

 

Please note: The proof of possession of aadhaar card or undergoing aadhaar authentication has been made mandatory for availing PRERANA post-matric scholarship from academic year 2019-20 onwards. Aadhaar number provided by the students in Post-matric Application portal “PRERANA” are being verified with the UIDAI and applications with successful verification will be prioritized for disbursement. The Aadhaar verification status will be notified to the applicants through SMS in the mobile number registered in PRERANA Portal as well as in their Application ID. Accordingly, applicants are requested to check their Aadhaar Verification status in their login ID and if the Aadhaar verification status is Not-Verified, they are requested to take necessary steps, as mentioned in their Login ID. After making the necessary correction/generation of Aadhaar in any Aadhaar enrolment centre, applicants are required to update their Aadhaar in their Login ID in PRERANA for re-processing of their Scholarship Application.
